This course is intended for non-specialist teachers of GCSE Physics and will take place weekly – every Wednesday from 2.00 – 2.30 with a short follow-up task. By the end of the course, you will be more confident when teaching the maths skills that the students need for success in GCSE Physics and the Physics content of GCSE Combined Science.
During the pilot session, we focussed on rearranging Physics formulae and we will continue with a maths theme:
22nd April – Powers of 10 and standard form
29th April – Physics quantities and units
6th May – Scalars and Vectors
13th May – Graph plotting in Physics
20th May – Significant figures and decimal places
Please sign up on TalkPhysics for each session that you wish to attend and the webinar link will be emailed to you.
If you are not sure if this is the right course for you, please email [email protected].
Links to the PowerPoints for each session will be posted here.

You can find all of the PowerPoints so far here:
You can sign up for next week here:
Bookings opened for this on Monday, and will close on Tuesday afternoon, following which I will send the link to the meeting. I would really appreciate it if you could sign up by Tuesday afternoon as it reduces the number of individual emails that need to be sent. Bookings for Wednesday 13th will open next Monday.
For the gap task(s), you can download the CGP Essential Maths skills for GCSE Science from Amazon, (free, but be sure to select the Kindle version) and the questions to reinforce today’s session are on pages 8-9:
